It is illegal because violates Microsoft copyrights.

Hi.
I want to make the LiveCD for Windows 7, in order to encrypt the disk where the Operating System is. But I need the Windows 7 setup DVD to do that, and I DO NOT HAVE IT because I bought the computer with the OS already installed. I am sure most people do not have the setup DVD.
Thank you.

I think very simple to use torrents for example, to download msdn original images of win7 and waik tool.
How to make win7 installation DVD with DC driver here (RUS): https://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=449.msg2784#msg2784.
So, if you need to translate, you are welcome.

I gave up trying to get a live CD working. Bart BSOD's while loading up, winbuilder loads up but DiskCryptor always says it needs to reboot and never actually works. It is the one single thing I hate about DC.

I think the solution might be to add features to the bootloader as options. There is embed key, which is ok but how about embed header backup? Give option to reinstall the header at boot time? Decrypt the system at boot time? Things like TrueCrypt did. The "recovery cd" you burn with TrueCrypt has more on it than a simple password box.

Very strange, I have two disks with DC - BartPE and custom windows setup disk. Both of them works fine on many systems.

Why add these options to the boot loader, if its will not work practically. They are required only for an emergency operation.
Usual bootloader must have the necessary minimum functions to boot, but not to restore.  The best course to a DС would be own emergency tool.
The current size of the loader is already causing boot problems via PXE, as i know. Not just because there is an option "Small loader, only with AES" during bootloader install.

I too am having trouble creating a bootcd

I downloaded the customized Hirens boot cd in another thread and my laptop bluescreens upon loading mini-xp.

I have created a bootdisk using the Windows 7 dvd. I successfully copied over the necessary diskcryptor files. When I get to the command prompt and run dccon -mountall it says the program is not installed. I double checked the three files are located in program files\dcrypt and the one file is located in the system32\drivers folder.

How can I mount an encrypted volume from the command line of a customized Windows 7 boot disk?

Thank You

* I have the newest version downloaded and per the instructions I do not need to do the registry changes.

EDIT: I see alkoro's image he posted. Is Diskcryptor supposed to launch a gui with the boot disk? I still do not see what I am doing wrong, as injecting 4 files into two different folders isn't a lot to do. When the disk first launches, am I somehow supposed to select the driver to load?

Simple files copying isn't give result. To get DC+Windows Setup needs customized windows setup disk, maked with WAIK-tool.

Here translation of this topic message https://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=449.msg2809#msg2809 by
shtraue, i use it to produce customized windows setup dvd:
=====
We need to setup Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=696dd665-9f76-4177-a811-39c26d3b3b34&displaylang=en to produce integration of DiskCryptor into Windows 7 Setup disk.
All below actions we need to execute with elevated administrative privileges.

1) Copy whole Windows 7 Setup DVD to C:\Win7-Files folder

2) Make empty folder C:\Win7-Servicing for temporary operations

3) Mount "Microsoft Windows PE" by following command:

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing\Dism.exe" /Mount-Wim /WimFile:C:\Win7-Files\sources\boot.wim /index:1 /MountDir:C:\Win7-Servicing

The "index"-swtich need to point to first index into WIM-image, what can contain several indexes. In our case we need first index, and we select it. Index list can get by following command:

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing\Dism.exe" /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:C:\Win7-Files\sources\boot.wim

4) Add a driver:

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing\Dism.exe" /Image:C:\Win7-Servicing /Add-Driver:C:\Drivers\MyDriver\driver.inf

5) Unmount "Microsoft Windows PE" with applying changes:

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing\Dism.exe" /Unmount-Wim /MountDir:C:\Win7-Servicing /commit

6) Add files (NB! Now use SECOND index) dcapi.dll, dccon.exe, dcrypt.exe into C:\Win7-Servicing\Program Files\DC folder

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing\Dism.exe" /Mount-Wim /WimFile:C:\Win7-Files\sources\boot.wim /index:2 /MountDir:C:\Win7-Servicing

copying files and unmounting

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\Servicing\Dism.exe" /Unmount-Wim /MountDir:C:\Win7-Servicing /commit

7) And last step - create Windows 7 ISO-image:

"C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\oscdimg.exe" -n -m -bC:\Win7-Files\boot\etfsboot.com "C:\Win7-Files" "C:\Win7-custom.iso"

Now you can select "Repair your computer" during loading from this Windows 7 DVD to run Command Line. From Command line you can start gui of Diskcryptor.
=====
my comments :
1. Read https://diskcryptor.net/wiki/LiveCD first.
2. During windows setup we can press Shift-F10 to run command line immediately.
3. For the 4-point of this manual: I do not this, can not do due to absend -inf file. Instead, driver installing into WIM-image I do how in this link (DC Wiki)https://diskcryptor.net/wiki/LiveCD in "Windows Vista/7 setup DVD"-topic.

Thank you alkoro I am still having trouble getting the driver on the disk. I believe the driver is my problem. All the other steps I can complete without a problem.

As you mentioned, step 4 cannot be done due to the missing inf file. So I followed the https://diskcryptor.net/wiki/LiveCD and copied dcrypt.sys into the system32\drivers folder. dc_fsf.sys is NOT in version 1.0 and higher. I am using 1.0.802.118 so I do not need and cannot find that file.

I am not too familiar with Windows AIK but I tried copying the dcrypt.sys under index 1 and index 2. The dcrypt.sys is in the system32\drivers folder but it is not loading with the disk

Thank you for your time.

I too get this issue. Also, when I try to run dccon.exe from the cli, it says, "DiskCryptor is not installed, please install DiskCryptor and reboot you [sic] system"

I've used Hiren's, but after mounting the discs, I still can't open them. It says, "D:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect." Is that normal?

After wasting 2 days straight and wasted many gigs worth of precious internet data on trying to build a CD, I've come to the conclusion that building using PEbuilder and using WinXP is the easiest.
I never tried any Vista approach, don't have any vista media and we all know vista is terrible.
Win 7 Recovery disk always made dccon return errors about how it wasn't installed.

Things needed:

  • Win XP SP1 and SP2. I had both on physical media. SP2 is absolutely needed so dcrypt.sys is found while loading.
  • (If you get blue screens, you most probably have a new chipset that WinXP does not have drivers for, in this case - get driver packs: http://driverpacks.net/) I had a BSOD error (0x7B, I think?) which is related to missing drivers. The packs fixed it. Slipstream it into your build.
  • For putting the image on USB stick - Rufus: http://rufus.akeo.ie/ - else, if you want to use a CD - Imgburn.

From those things, you should be able to successfully build a CD without error(s). If anyone would like a step by step tutorial in text or video, post up (Please state what you want, not just you want help). However it will only be in English if it is requested.

If for some reason you haven't seen this post : https://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=4422.0
FTDS, just use this updated Hiren's image that DiskCryptorUser666666 put together.

Please see the tutorial I just posted on how to create a Win7 PESE boot USB. I, too wasted several days trying to follow all the previously posted directions without success. The steps I took DO work and yield a bootable USB drive with DC installed.
