** You don't want to create a BartPE Live CD, because it is to complicated for you? But you need a bootable CD for having access to your data if something is wrong with your encrypted system? Here it is:

The Hiren's BootCD is a perfect Live CD with a lot of tools (CloneDisk, Seagate DiscWizard = Powered by Acronis TrueImage, MbrFix, Recuva, TestDisk, DiskCryptor, TrueCrypt, BlueScreenView, Memtest86, Avira AntiVir, ... ) and a MiniXP (a customized Windows XP!):

http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
But the integrated DiskCryptor version is 0.9 and the developer don't want to use DiskCryptor 1.xx because it is Beta (what is not true anymore. The current version is stable). I rebuilt a
HBCD 15.2 with  DiskCryptor 1.0.802.118 (download the ISO Image, burn and enjoy):

DOWNLOADS:
Please use also the other hoster (mirrors), so that they don't delete the files. Thanx

This was a great idea and it worked perfectly. Thank you for putting this together!

I want to mention some things that will make this easier for someone else who may want this.

1. I had trouble extracting the iso file. Being unfamiliar with 7-Zip, I didn't know you had to combine the 3 files before extracting them.  So open 7-Zip and migrate to the download folder containing the files - then select all three, and combine them, then extract the iso.( I don't recall if I had to right-click or if the function was in one of the drop-down menus.)

2. Heck with that long complicated process of making a USB boot Flashdrive that is described on the Hirens site. There's a better way. Use Universal-USB-Installer. available here: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ This is an Awesome Standalone program (which means nothing will be installed on your system) AND It's only like 3-clicks to make your Hirens Boot USB. Wow!

Important Notes about using the Universal USB Installer:
1. Scroll all the way down to to find the install hirens to usb option.
2. Universal installer couldn't find the iso file in the folder. i don't know why. BUT all you have to do is to enter "*.*" (minus the quotes) in the file selection box, hit enter, and it will show all files in the folder that you have selected. Then you select the ISO file and the rest is self-explanatory.

I hope this helps someone who may want this.

And thanks again, DiskCryptorUser666666! Gotta love the community here...:)

P.S. After you make the Hirens Boot USB FD, for convenience, you can hide a keyfile on it.

Hi, I think this is not a problem with my 'special edition' of the Boot CD. I assume that your laptop doesn't work generally with the Boot CD (maybe it has a UEFI environment and Windows 8 ). Did you try a boot with the original Boot CD?

I'm having the same exact problem -- encrypted a Win 8 system partition and can't boot now. I am able to boot from USB into mini-WinXP, but I can't access any of the programs on the USB. I only see the Windows system files. Inserting another USB doesn't work, and I can't see the root of the boot USB. Any ideas?

@bigfatmnky

Im so sorry that you broke your system. DiskCryptor doesn't support Windows 8 officially! That is the problem. When you follow this guideline (red marked text), there is a chance that DiskCryptor runs with Windows 8:
https://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=4697.0

Anyway, you broke the system and so far I understand, you want to fix it with the Hiren's BootCD. You wrote: ' I can't access any of the programs'. If I'm right, you are able to boot via USB into a running Mini-XP, but you can't start a program. Please follow this instructions (read an see the screenshots in the two posts):
https://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=4431.msg9826#msg9826

You have to run DiskCryptor via the HBCD Menue --> Security/Encryption --> DiskCryptor. After that mount and decrypt the broken volume. I hope you can fix your system, but when it works, keep in mind --> DiskCryptor doesn't support Windows 8 (like TrueCrypt). If you are an expert you can try it, but if you are not, don't do it again.

DiskCryptorUser666666... I ended up just doing a complete restore last night. All of my data was on a different drive, so I just had to re-install all of the software. But I would still like to get the recovery procedure working in case I run into a similar problem in the future. I followed the instructions you provided a link to (yesterday), but I couldn't find DiskCryptor on the flash drive. It boots to a cmd-like menu and I selected every possible option, but couldn't find DiskCryptor. I also didn't see it in mini-WinXP. I'm using the ISO that you created. I can try booting into the ISO again tonight, but all I remember seeing (having access to) in mini-WinXP was Windows system files and the RAM disk, which had nothing on it.

Sorry, I don't want be impolite but I'm a little bit miffed about you. I want to help you and I can assume that you follow all my suggestions and read all links, but you didn't! If you had, you wouldn't ask such questions. But I want help you again:

(a)

...to a cmd-like menu and I selected every possible option, but couldn't find DiskCryptor...
You can not find DiskCryptor in that menu, because DiskCryptor is not there. DiskCryptor is included in the Mini-WinXP.

(b)

...I also didn't see it in mini-WinXP...
Believe me, it is there. You need to start it via the HBCD menu, like I wrote.

Again, please (!!) read my posts and look at the pictures in that thread (Reply#14 and  Reply#12):
https://diskcryptor.net/forum/index.php?topic=4431.msg9826#msg9826
I would suggest that you read the complete thread, because this guy did similar mistakes like you.

I hope your next try to find DiskCryptor will be successful.

Hey, sorry for the delay. Back when I was trying this, I did boot into mini-WinXP, but I didn't see the menu option -- I very likely overlooked it. I should have paid more attention, and probably would have saved everyone some time. I'll look again when I get a chance. Thanks for your help!

Do you know when/if DiskCryptor will support Windows 8? I would like to encrypt the boot partition, and haven't seen any open source software that can do that with a GUID partition table.

The original Boot CD also doesn't work. But I have a normal win 7 Laptop. Have you any idea?

I'm so sorry for you. The Hiren's Boot CD is not compatible to your hardware. If you need a working Boot CD you have to build it by yourself:
