How to restore information if something goes wrong and you have no backup.

General

Don't use Windows repair feature, it will repair nothing, only further mess up your drive.

If the following advises did not help please visit forum's Troubleshooting section.

Encryption Troubles

I have encrypted my system/boot partition. Now my computer does not boot.

  1. Your computer has UEFI that is not supported by DiskCryptor's bootloader.
    1. Boot from Live Media with DC (or connect your drive to another system with DC).
    2. Mount and Decrypt encrypted partition(s).
    3. Remove the bootloader through bootloader configuration.
    4. Restart the computer and go into machine settings.
    5. Change the boot mode to UEFI with Secureboot or Legacy BIOS.

  2. Your computer has UEFI and system drive formatted to GPT that are not supported by DiskCryptor's bootloader.
    1. Decrypt and Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy BIOS (see above).
    2. Convert system disk from GPT to MBR. forum

I have encrypted my system partition but DC bootloader does not accept password.

  1. National symbols in password. If your keyboard has QWERTZ or AZERTY layout, then you can use symbols only from the following sets: [a–z][A–Z][0–9].
    1. Boot from Live Media with DC (or connect your drive to another system with DC) to mount, check for bootloader or decrypt volume.

Routine Troubles

I did nothing, encrypted system just does not boot anymore.
